Is this for real … it seems Fernando Alonso thumbs have been insured for $13.9 million dollar.

In a deal to raise awareness of Santander’s life and accident insurance packages, a personal sponsor has arranged for such a coverage for the Spaniard F1 driver.

Fernando Alonso is the new face for Santander, a Spanish bank, after signing a new one-year deal.

Santander spokesperson was quoted, “Alonso’s thumbs are a big symbol as, apart from being essential when driving a Formula One car, they represent a sign of victory and that everything is under control and well protected.”

Question is why just the thumbs, not the fingers, palm and hands which drives the F1 car.

I reckon if a thumb cost $13.9 million, the whole hand would cost a bomb?
