With the recent tie-up between Force India and McLaren, where McLaren will provide engine and technical support for Dr Vijay Mallya’s fledgling Force India F1 team, plus McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa recently testing Force India’s VJM01 F1 car at Barcelona recently, it all adds speculation that Giancarlo Fisichella might get the boot.

The 35 year old driver however was confident of his place in the team, saying that he has a contract review back in September to include the McLaren deal. He dismissed any gossip surrounding his F1 future when asked by the media.

“I originally signed a two-year contract which was reviewed in September to incorporate the McLaren deal. The team offered me a better car and a different package. I accepted their proposal and both sides signed the new document between Singapore and China. The only thing I know is that in September we were told that Pedro could test and we could not say before it was made official so I was not at all surprised. As for the rest, I am not really interested in F1 gossip.”
