It was a race of attrition at the Singapore GP and with no Ferrari car in sight or inside the Championship points yesterday, Hamilton was ordered to stop ‘pushing’ his car and the McLaren team was happy to settle for third spot, not wanting to take any chances

Hamilton teammate Heikki Kovalainen finished tenth and the duo finish was enough to see the McLaren team gain grounds on the Constructors Championship and Driver Standings

“We’re going to approach the next few races exactly the same as we have this one. It’s all about scoring points. We came here with a one-point lead and I could see the Ferrari’s were very competitive this weekend and Felipe was driving well, so I knew it would be very tough to beat them.

But fortunately the race had a couple of incidents which didn’t benefit them but we did a solid job and came back with the points. So moving forward, we definitely can’t get ahead of ourselves because, as you can see, lots of things can happen. So we will just focus on doing a solid job and scoring more points hopefully”

Now Lewis Hamilton has warned against complacency as any slip-up might award the title to their ‘bitter’ rival Ferrari

For the Driver Standings, Hamilton is in the lead with 84 points, with Massa of Ferrari on 77 points (Finished 13th at Singapore GP) with McLaren team finally in first position in the Constructors Championship with 135 points, but just a point away is Ferrari (134 points)
