McLaren F1 goes carbon-neutral

The McLaren F1 has finally gone carbon-neutral. The first formula one team to do so.

What is carbon-neutral? Well it’s mean having a net zero carbon footprint, refers to achieving net zero carbon emissions by balancing a measured amount of carbon released with an equivalent amount sequestered or offset, or buying enough carbon credits to make up the difference.

The Woking based constructor with such an initiative will achieve annual savings of more than 1500 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Mercedes to be renamed ‘Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team’

In 2012, the Mercedes team will be competing under the banner ‘Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team.’

AMG is the performance brand of Mercedes-Benz, supplying safety and medical cars since 1996. AMG, is a subsidiary of the Mercedes-Benz car company specializing in high-performance luxury cars.

While Petronas, Malaysian oil supplier Petronas is the title sponsor.

Williams retains Pastor Maldonado, promotes Valtteri Bottas as new reserve driver

Pastor Maldonado will once again drive for Williams F1 next year. The rookie only managed to secure one world championship point this season.

The Venezuelan will be joined by current GP3 champion, Finnish Valtteri Bottas who takes the reserve driver seat.

Lewis Hamilton special Senna tribute helmet during F1 Brazil

Lewis Hamilton worn a special helmet with the logo and colours of Brazil’s triple Formula One champion, the late Ayrton Senna, combined with his own helmet design.

The helmet tribute is for a good cause as it will be auctioned off in aid of the Senna charitable foundation after the race has ended.

Deadline for $25 million payment is Wednesday, says Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, though earlier it was said to be December 7.

Ecclestone said it will be cancelled if the situation is not resolved by 7 December, 2011 and the contract with race promoter Hellmund has already been cancelled due to breach of contract.
