F1 dilemma: Safety or more TV viewershipWe all know F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone wants twilight races to stay as the TV figures are just crazy man.
Now that’s a lot of viewership, but the downside there’s of course safety issues that F1 drivers have all warned about when racing in twilight condition. I believe its an accident waiting to happen, and no matter how much profit is there to gain, safety is top priority no matter what. The thing about racing in twilight condition is that there’s difficulties of racing with shadows playing across the track. Not to mention the glare of the lights on the tarmac if it rains. F1 night racing, which debuts last season a Singapore Grand Prix itself, have yet to experience a wet night race. I reckon the stewards would abandon the race if it gets too dangerous. F1 organizers and Bernie has to reach an amicable compromise on this issue for future races especially if it concerns twilight races; it has dangerous implications in my opinion.
