Voice of F1 Murray Walker voted the Greatest Commentator of all time![]() Murray Walker Graeme Murray Walker is a Formula One (F1) motorsport commentator, broadcasting since 1948 and he has been voted by his peers in a survey as the “Greatest Commentator of all time”.
For most of his career Graeme Murray worked for the BBC, but when it lost the contract for F1 coverage to the company ITV, Walker continued his commentating after the change of broadcaster. The legend is famous for his distinctive, enthusiastic commentary style. The 86 year old however has retired since 2001, and his last race commentary was the United States Grand Prix.
Graeme Murray however did make an exception and came out of retirement this year, to present for the BBC Sports website, and commenting on a children’s programme, Roary the Racing Car. BBC Sports voice of football John Motson was voted the second best commentator of all time. The tennis legend now turn commentator John McEnroe is third in the survey.
